Alexander Nachaj, Ph.D.

Hello there.

Don’t try to pronounce my last name.

Just call me Alexander.

What is there to say about me?

Well, I completed my Ph.D. from Concordia University in 2021, first under the supervision of Dr. Donald Boisvert and then seen to completion by Dr. Hillary Kaell.

My dissertation focused on American religion, celebrity studies, critical men’s studies, and the media around the mid-20th century American Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. My first book on this subject, titled Prime-Time Bishop, was released late 2025.

During my time at Concordia, I also taught undergraduate courses in the Department of Religions and Cultures and gave tutorials in technical writing for the department of Engineering.

Early in my studies, I was also the editor for the Journal or Religions and Cultures. I successfully revived that near-dead journal, completely digitizing our workflows and processes, rebranded with a new logo, and managed to get out two editions a year during my three year tenure (where there had only been one issue over the previous seven years…)

Career-wise, I’m the founder Acorn Digital Consulting, a boutique digital marketing agency focusing on offering data-driven solutions that help businesses expand their reach and grow their bottom line.

Through Acorn and my other consulting work, I’ve helped clients double their lead volume, unlock new marketing channels, automate email campaigns that convert, and cut back on hundreds of thousands of dollars of wastage on campaigns.

I’d like to say that I found a spot teaching somewhere in the years since earning my doctorate (my true passion), but then I’d have to tell you a story about the job market for academics (and it doesn’t have a happy ending for most of us). At least I’m still connected to education.

I’m a also writer. My award-winning short fiction leans into the speculative and the surreal, and my screenplays have been recognized at festivals.

I’ve been published under my own name and various pseudonyms including JM Connors, Alec Anderson, and Michael Arkady.

Whenever I have free time, you’ll probably find me hiking, canoeing, or spending time with my wife and daughters.

Let’s connect and create something meaningful.
